Corrections
Updated October 17, 2026We work hard to get it right, and when we don't, we say so. This page explains how to report an error, how we handle it, and lists significant corrections we have made.
1. How to report an error
Email office@hiphopcitizen.com with "Correction" in the subject line. Please include:
- the link to the story or page;
- what you believe is wrong;
- a source or evidence for the correct information, if you have one.
If you are the subject of a story and believe it is inaccurate or unfair, tell us that too. We take those requests seriously and respond to each one.
2. What happens next
- We acknowledge correction requests and aim to review them within two business days, faster for serious errors.
- If we confirm a mistake, we fix the story and add a correction note.
- If we decide the story is accurate, we explain why when you've given us a way to reply.
3. How changes are labeled
- Correction: a factual error is fixed. A note at the bottom of the story says what was wrong, what is correct now, and the date.
- Update: new information is added to a developing story, such as a response, a charge, a verdict or a confirmation. The note says what was added and when.
- Clarification: the facts were right but the wording could mislead. We reword it and note the change.
- Editor's note: used when a story's overall framing needs context, or in the rare case we remove a story, explaining why.
Spelling, grammar and formatting fixes that don't change meaning are made without a note.
4. Automated content
Our Daily Roundup and Personal Finance cards are assembled automatically and published each morning. If one contains an error, report it the same way. We correct or remove the item, list significant errors below, and use what we learn to improve how the summaries are produced.
5. Removing stories
We don't remove stories just because they're unflattering. We may remove or update a story when it is seriously inaccurate, when charges against someone are dropped or they're acquitted and the original coverage could cause lasting unfair harm, when a person's safety is at risk, or when the law requires it. When we remove a story, we note it below.
6. Corrections log
