Cookie Policy
Effective October 17, 2026This Cookie Policy explains how HipHopCitizen.com uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. The short version: we don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, let a site remember settings on your device. In this policy, "cookies" covers both.
2. Cookies we use
We do not set advertising cookies or analytics cookies. Our own pages use only:
- Preference storage (local storage). If a section lets you choose a setting, such as your country, state or city, your browser remembers that choice so you don't have to pick it every visit. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. It lasts until you change it or clear your browser data.
- Essential technical cookies. Our hosting provider may set short-lived cookies needed to deliver pages quickly and protect the site from attacks. These are strictly necessary for the site to work.
3. Third-party content
- YouTube videos. Some of our pages embed YouTube videos. When an embedded player loads, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect information about your viewing, under Google's Privacy Policy. Our "Watch" section shows YouTube thumbnail images and links to YouTube; YouTube's cookies apply once you go to YouTube.
- Google Fonts. Our typefaces load from Google's servers. This doesn't set cookies, but Google receives your IP address to deliver the fonts.
- Links to other sites. News outlets and other sites we link to have their own cookie policies.
| What | Set by | Purpose | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Location and display preferences | HipHopCitizen.com (local storage) | Remember choices you make in a section | Functional | Until you change or clear it |
| Hosting and security cookies | Our hosting provider | Deliver pages and block attacks | Strictly necessary | Session to a few days |
| Embedded video cookies | YouTube (Google) | Play videos and measure viewing | Third-party | Set by YouTube |
4. How to control cookies
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Help pages: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
- Clearing your browser's "site data" also removes saved preferences, so the site will ask for your choices again.
- Blocking all cookies may stop embedded videos from playing; the rest of the site keeps working.
5. Changes
If we ever add analytics or advertising, we'll update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before setting those cookies.
